NSCAA honors go to W-League players
31 W-League players named collegiate All-Americans

TAMPA, FL – A total of 31 players with W-League experience were among the players recognized by the NSCAA as All-Americans in the NCAA Division I, II and III ranks for the 2009 season, including nine of the 11 Division I First Team recipients.

Long-time Whitecap Schmidt honored (Bob Frid)In addition to the nine players on the First Team, 11 others were recognized as Division I All Americans by the NSCAA. The two-time W-League champion Pali Blues were spread throughout the three teams with eight players receiving honors for their collegiate performances. Three players also hailed from the runners-up Washington Freedom.

Ten more players from the W-League were among those honored in Division II with one additional W-League alum on the Division III list.

Among the top players recognized were four-time All-American Lauren Cheney and three-time honorees Tobin Heath and Kelley O’Hara – all of whom played for Pali this past summer. The Blues also featured two-time All-Americans Kristin Olsen and Whitney Engen, accounting for all five multiple recipients of the award that were among the First Team.
