VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Join your W-League Piranhas as they celebrate their home opener vs. the Dayton Dutch Lions Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex.

The Piranhas are back in town after opening the 2012 campaign on the road in D.C. and Fredericksburg. Following two tough losses, the Piranhas are primed for their first win of the season and an exciting match in front of the home crowd. The team is led by returning captains Melanie Adams and Emily Kittleson and a host of new and veteran players.

Newcomer Jessica Kalonji scored the Piranhas' first goal of the season in the team's 2-1 loss against Fredericksburg. Under the direction of Head Coach Wendy Waddell, entering her fourth year with the team, the Piranhas are confident in their preparation and training leading up to the home opener.

"I am expecting a solid season with the talented group of girls we have," midfielder Alyssa Wombwell said. "With a large group of returners this year, I think we have a lot of potential to come out of the get-go with a good performance on Saturday."

The Dayton Dutch Lions will play their first game of the season on Saturday. The team is coached by Fernando Derveld, a former professional player in the top league of the Netherlands.

Gates open at 6 p.m. ET; tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for kids 15 and younger. Season tickets still available - visit for details.
