Spirit Reserves Host Final Tryouts
Open evaluation set for May 1

Washington Spirit Reserves News Release -

Wednesday, April 24, 2013

BOYDS, Md. –
The Washington Spirit announced today the final open tryout date for the 2013 W-League team. Tryouts are scheduled for Wednesday May 1 from 6-8 p.m. at the Maryland Soccerplex (Field #14) in Boyds, MD. Players must register in order to participate in the trials.

With the addition of a professional team for 2013, the W-League squad will become a primary avenue for players to prove themselves capable of deserving a shot at the pros. The W-League team will carry the name “Washington Spirit Reserves” and will train frequently alongside the professional team. Slated to host additional tryouts in the coming weeks, the W-20 team will serve the region’s top college-bound and active college players who still have several years left before graduation from the college game.

Tryouts are open and current collegiate players are encouraged to attend. After the May 1 trials, players may only try out through direct, prearranged invitation from a member of the coaching staff and must still register in order to be considered.

Interested players must complete the online tryout registration form and pay a one-time $50 registration fee in order to be eligible to participate. Previously registered players are not to pay registration fee a second time.

Players are encouraged to arrive 30 minutes prior for check-in, warm-up, and stretching. Maryland Soccerplex Field #14 is a grass field, so players should insure they bring proper footwear to the trials.
