TUKWILA, Wash. - Sounders Women defender Jaelene Hinkle was recently called in to represent the United States with the USWNT U-23 team. Hinkle joins the U-23s for the Six Nations Tournament in La Manga, Spain.

The tournament opened on March 1 with a win against Japan. In game two against Sweden, Hinkle assisted on the game-winning goal.

“Representing the United States means so much to me and I'm honored I get the chance to do so," Hinkle said.  "I'm so lucky I get the opportunity to play soccer for my country, and I don't ever want to take such an amazing experience for granted.”

Hinkle played in seven games for the Sounders Women in 2013, scoring two goals. She finished with five points overall during a season spent as both a defender and attacker.

“I feel the Sounders Women really challenged me in areas of my game where I needed the most improvement,” Hinkle said. “In such a competitive environment, I was able to hone in on a variety of my skills so that I could better my game as a player.”
